Profile photos that look like you

You don't need a photo shoot. A few honest pictures say more than any perfectly lit portrait.

The first photo decides whether someone keeps reading. That doesn't mean it has to be perfect. It has to look like you.

The first picture: just you

Show your face clearly, without sunglasses and without a group. Daylight is the best filter there is. A window or a shady spot outside is all you need.

Smiling helps. Not because you always have to be cheerful, but because it invites the other person to smile back.

The rest: your everyday life

After that, your photos can show how you live. Hiking, in your kitchen, with your dog. Include one full-body shot so nobody is surprised at the first meetup.

Four to six pictures is ideal. More tends to dilute rather than help.

What you can skip

Heavy filters, photos older than two years, and group shots where people have to guess which one is you. And please no pictures with your ex, not even half cropped out.
